In Memory of Bruce TaylorBruce Taylor was born in South Bend, Indiana on June 12, 1945. He was the first child of Irma and Curtis Taylor. As a child, he and later sister Judy lived all over the East Coast and then lived in Japan during the occupation. Later a brother, Duane was born in Virginia. They lived in Maine, Colorado, the Phillipines and then ended up in Texas where the last of the children were born, another sister Dixie. While in Texas Bruce decided to join the Navy. Basic Training was in San Deigo and then on to Guam. He had 2 tours of duty in the waters off Vietnam and Korea and was a radioman on the Engage and Mansfield. In between duties at sea Bruce spent a tour in Oak Harbour, Washington. He loved the fishing in the Northwest. Bruce left the service in 1970. He tried various jobs, mostly in keypunch and computers. In 1972 Bruce met and married his wife Susan, had two kids named Shannon and Kelly. In 1974 Bruce joined Tri-Met Bus Co., spent 27 years with the company until his illness caused him to take an early retirement. The joys of his life were his family, which now include a granddaughter born just a month before his death. He loved fishing. His favorite saying was "Eat...Sleep...Go Fishing." The joke was if he didn't come home with any fish, he went fishing not catching. He loved the outdoors and traveling around the Northwest. My husband had three lives: being an Air Force Brat, A Naval Seaman, and a husband, father, and last a grandpa. Susan Taylor
