Georgia Mason When my family left Fort Bliss, having completed 5th grade, I believe in Mrs. Spears' class, we went to zweibrucken Germany and I completed the 6th, and 7th grades. I have many fond memories of these times as well, and did not want to move back stateside and leave all my friends. I think,up until this move, I did not think much about moving, because we all did it, and it was a part of our lives. It became more difficult the older I got, but I always found a niche to be a part of no matter where I was. And could always get along with everyone, no matter our differences. I think this is one of the plusses of moving frequently and being with others who did the same. We returned stateside, living at Fort Harrison, Indiana. I began the 8th grade there and stayed in the same school system (albeit civilian) through my junior year in high school (Lawrence Central High School). We lived on post and the majority of my friends were Army Brats like myself. In fact Lawrence Central was filled with many Army Brats! We stayed in Indianapolis for this length of time because my father also served a tour of duty in Korea. He returned home the summer before my senior year and was then stationed at Fort Monroe, Virginia. This was a tough move for me; being shy and quiet made it difficult. But graduate I did (Chris Moore was in my graduating class at Kecoughtan HS) and moved on to college. I went to East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina from 69-73 and it was my "coming out " time. While there, my father served a tour in Viet Nam, and upon his return, was transferred to Fort McPherson, Georgia (Atlanta). I remained at East Carolina and finished my degree in Social Work. I accepted a position in a local Mental Health Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC. While living and working in Roanoke Rapids I met and married Al, my best friend.( we married in the Chapel of the Centurion on Fort Monroe......Chris would probably know the Chapel). At the time he worked for JP Stevens, a textile company. We left there in 1977 and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia., where Al began his career with Abbott Laboratories. In 1979, our son Greg was born........and what a joy he was and is. I got "antsy" when Greg was about 3, and returned to Graduate School at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA.. Looking back, I am not sure how I pulled that off with a toddler and a commute weekly.......but finish I did with a Masters in Clinical Social Work. I went to work full time and then part time as a psychotherapist at a local Mental Health Center and then at a Family Service agency. When Greg was in the latter part of his Junior year I decided to take some time off and enjoy the time with him before he left for college.......that was in 1996. It was one of the best decisions I made because we got the chance to really learn a lot about one another. He has since graduated and is attending East Carolina University (freshman). Greg, however is a die hard Carolina fan (UNC), as is his father( although his business degree is from Western Carolina U). Greg may transfer to Chapel Hill. but so far is having a good time partying at ECU (he is also doing well academically......that is our prerequisite for being there!!!).........and Al and I are enjoying the empty nest!!!! We have actually discovered that we like one another still.. ha ha!! We love having Greg come home, but love it when he goes back!! (as does he). I now enjoy playing tennis 4 times a week, work out 2x a week, enjoy reading , needlework and playing on the computer! There is a slight itch to get back into my field and do what I believe I am gifted in doing, but have not done that so far........Time will tell. In the meantime, this has been fun, finding us on the Net and talking to Marc. And I know all you guys have been dying to find Cindy Glover, and I promise you, if I find her first, I'LL TELL YOU HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH HER!!! Unless she is still cute and perky!!! ha ha She was a good friend then, and it would be fun.to see and or hear from her......Oh I forgot to tell you that in my 20's I was one of the swimsuit models in Sports Illustrated.........Just kidding. Many Blessings to all of you, Georgia PS. If you are not taller than 5'81/2", I am STILL taller than you!!!!!!!!!
